🎨 UX Designer Scope — HIGH Neuroacoustic MVP

Project Type

Web-based proof of concept (Phase 1 MVP)

Goal

Design a minimalist, emotionally engaging experience where users can:
  1. Choose their desired mental state (Focus, Calm, Sleep, High Energy).
  1. Instantly experience an AI-generated soundscape augmented with neuroacoustic modulation.
  1. Provide feedback that personalises future sessions — creating a sense that the sound learns from them.

🧭 Core Design Philosophy

The HIGH app experience must feel like:
“Science meets serenity.”
Unlike typical meditation apps, this product is not about mindfulness — it’s about precision neuroacoustics presented with aesthetic calm and tech credibility.
The design language should blend Endel’s minimalism, Calm’s immersion, and Headspace’s clarity — while introducing HIGH’s futuristic, AI-powered identity.

🧱 UX Flow Overview

plain text
Launch → Select State → Generation Screen → Listening Experience → Feedback → Summary
Each step is emotionally distinct but visually cohesive, creating a feeling of progressive descent into calm or focus.

🪞 1. Launch / Entry

Purpose

Establish credibility and tone; immediately communicate “adaptive audio powered by AI + neuroscience.”

UX Goals

  • Minimal welcome screen with HIGH logo and tagline:
    • “Change your mental state on demand.”
  • Quick explainer (1–2 lines):
    • “Our AI blends music and science to help you focus, relax, or recharge.”
  • CTA: “Begin” → transitions to State Selection.

Design Inspiration

  • Calm’s fade-in nature scenes → replaced with abstract, AI-style waveforms.
  • Endel’s gradient pulses → subtle, low-motion wave oscillation.

🧠 2. State Selection

Purpose

Let users pick their target state in one effortless tap.

States

  • Calm (Theta) – Gentle relaxation, journaling, mood regulation.
  • Focus (Alpha) – Deep work, sustained attention.
  • Sleep (Delta) – Rest, recovery, mental reset.
  • High Energy (Beta/Gamma) – Motivation, drive, alertness.

UX Design

  • 4 large cards or a circular selector wheel.
  • Each card shows:
    • Keyword (Calm, Focus, etc.)
    • Short descriptor (e.g., “Relax your mind & body.”)
    • Visual tone: Colour-coded gradient + subtle wave motion tied to frequency.
  • Tap → moves to the Generation Screen.

Design Reference

  • Headspace: clear, single-action navigation.
  • Endel: minimalist frequency-informed visual identity.

🎛️ 3. Generation Screen (AI in Action)

Purpose

Visually communicate that sound is being created for you, right now.

UX Flow

  • Transition to dynamic “sound generation” animation:
    • Animated sound waves pulsing as AI composes.
    • Text feedback: “Generating your personalised sound…”
    • Subtext: “This usually takes 3–5 seconds.”
  • Once ready, screen fades to “Play Session.”

Design Reference

  • Endel: generative visuals, AI-like motion.
  • Calm: serene, meditative pace.
  • HIGH twist: futuristic, data-driven aesthetic (digital waves, sound particles, responsive light).

🎧 4. Listening Experience / Session Screen

Purpose

Deliver immersion and transparency during the audio session.

Display Elements

Element
Description
Mode Indicator
e.g. “Flow • 10 Hz • 40 min”
Visual Animation
AI-reactive wave that subtly pulses in sync with sound modulation
Time
Remaining time (if set) or looping indication
Controls
Pause / End / Adjust intensity
Safety label
“Headphones recommended • Not for driving”

Interactive Option

  • Mid-session prompt (appears once):
    • “Too sleepy? Shift to Focus.” or “Too alert? Try Calm.”

Design Feel

  • Fluid gradient motion; silence between UI and sound.
  • Avoid visible “player” UI (no standard music bars).
  • Visual should reflect frequency intensity and modulation depth.

📊 5. Feedback Screen (Post-Session)

Purpose

Capture subjective response and refine next session.

UX Flow

  • Brief transition after session ends:
    • “How did that feel?”
  • Simple slider or emoji-based scale:
    • “Felt relaxed”
    • “Too strong”
    • “Could focus better”
  • Optional: short micro-task (e.g., quick focus tap test or breathing sync test).

Tone

  • Conversational, non-clinical.
  • Keep it rewarding: “Got it. We’ll fine-tune your next session.”

Reference

  • Headspace: gratitude reflection tone.
  • Calm: short journaling prompt feel.
  • Endel: clean, data-driven simplicity.

📈 6. Summary / Save Screen

Purpose

Show reflection + positive reinforcement.

UX Display

  • Session summary:
    • “Completed: Calm • 20 min”
    • “AI tuned your next session to your preference.”
  • Small data visualisation (focus/relaxation trend over time).
  • CTA:
    • “Replay this mode”
    • “Try another state”
    • “Share your calm” (optional social hook)

🪄 7. Optional Features (for later phases)

  • Biometric Integration (HRV, Apple Watch, Whoop, etc.):
    • Adaptive auto-tuning based on live metrics.
  • Dynamic Voice Guidance: optional spoken intros or soft AI-guided cues.
  • Profile Learning Dashboard: visualises user “neural fingerprint” over time.

🎨 Visual & Interaction Guidelines

Design Element
Specification
Visual Tone
Abstract, scientific minimalism with a human feel. Think “AI calm.”
Motion Language
Fluid, continuous; transitions between screens must feel like waves.
Colour Palette
Based on neural bands:• Calm (Theta): soft purples• Focus (Alpha): teal / aqua• Sleep (Delta): deep blue• High Energy (Beta/Gamma): amber / magenta
Typography
Rounded sans-serif (Inter, Manrope, or Satoshi).
Audio-Visual Sync
Animation subtly reacts to modulation rate (e.g., pulsing every few seconds).
Accessibility
Large touch areas, optional high-contrast mode, volume safety reminders.
Tone of Voice
Confident but calm. Avoid “spiritual” language — use science-backed, neutral tone: “may support,” “helps guide,” “can enhance.”
